Biography

Commissioner

Rev. Dennis Payne

Rev. Dennis G. Payne, II is the proud pastor of Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church in Bremerton, Washington. The church’s overall goal is to erect new commercial properties while renovating and expanding their church structure. Reverend Payne has been in the ministry for 16 years, serving various pastoral posts in Missouri where he has renovated and remolded them all prior to his homecoming.

He has a B.A. degree in Christian Ministry from St. Louis Christian College and a Master’s in Theological Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary. He has done graduate work on his MBA degree through the University of Phoenix.

In addition to serving as a member of the Washington State Commission on African American Affairs, Rev. Payne currently serves on The Diversity Advisory Committee of Olympia College and serves as the Secretary of the Board of Examiners of the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference and Instructor of the Second Year Class for the Annual Conference.

Rev. Payne was contracted to serve as the Coordinator of an $85,000 collaborative grant to support efforts to improve the WASL scores and on-time graduation rate for the Bremerton High School Class of 2008. This partnership with the Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) grant allows Rev. Payne to directly support a collaborative Parent Community School Partnership Project, which will work with approximately 100 “project students.”
