History Note

James Kelly, shown above far left, was appointed as the Commission's first executive director by Gov. Booth Gardner in 1992. Kelly was the first Executive Director to serve after the Commission was established in law by RCW 43.113.

Tony Orange, above far right, was appointed Commission executive director by Gov. Gary Locke after Kelly left to head the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle.

Regina Jones (not pictured) served as Commission executive director after Orange left to head the Central Area Motivation program in Seattle.

Rosalund Jenkins, shown above center with Herman McKinney, has served as Commission executive director from June 2005 to the present.

All three Commission directors -- past and present -- joined McKinney to celebrate his retirement from the Seattle Chamber's Urban Enterprise Center in January 2007.
